Each Sunday, a group goes out to Pacific Beach and partners with the PB Presbyterian Church to help feed approximately 100-150 homeless men and women. There are opportunitites for people to help prepare and serve the food as well as share the Gospel message with the needy. This ministry generally runs from 3-6pm. The Compassion Ministry at LBC focuses on making a positive impact in the lives of people in our local community and throughout the world. We do this so that we may show the world that we have a faith, hope and love that only Jesus Christ can give.
The core aspect of this ministry is to reach out to our local community. This is achieved through various outreach events throughout the year. These may include but are not limited to visiting convalescent homes, orphanages, women’s shelters, soup kitchens, home building in Mexico, and open EV on the streets. The goal is to use these outreach events for the purpose of bringing people to the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ by preaching and living the Word.
Requirements for participation are: a regular attender of Lighthouse Bible Church and attend a meeting every few months in order to plan out events. The only needs of the ministry at this point are hearts that desire to make an impact for Christ. If you would like to participate in the compassion ministry contact Grace Lee.
Contact: Grace LeeHello, my name is Hwa Park (hwapark@lighthousebc.com). I lead a team at LBC whose purpose is to welcome the new visitors to Lighthouse Bible Church and to introduce them to the various aspects LBC. The New Visitor Ministry performs the following functions.
Parking: They are responsible for regulating traffic while providing reserved parking for family with children and to new visitors. Other responsibilities may include helping load and unload church related equipment for the purpose of an effective Sunday worship.
Front Desk Greeting: Welcomes both regular attendees and new visitors by providing nametags/programs/new visitor informational pamphlet and guest sign-in books as they first enter the building.
New Visitors Orientation: This orientation occurs immediately after service and is a designated time set aside to meet the new visitors and well as for new visitors to ask questions about LBC. A brief history as well as the MVP statement of LBC is shared. Various members of the NV team from college/single/married ministry also share information concerning their appropriate ministries. A Church Informational Pamphlet is given out to all new visitors who attend the orientation.
Follow up: Every new visitor will receive a follow up phone call or e-mail from a member of the welcoming team. The biggest purpose of this follow up is to answer any spiritual related questions and to encourage them to seek a passionate relationship with Jesus Christ our Lord.
Meet-N-Greet: This event is sponsored by LBC and organized by the NV team and occurs once every 2 months at the church after Sunday service. Meet-N-Greet is a casual time where all the new visitors during the past two months are invited. Lunch is provided to facilitate a lively interaction and to answer any questions they might have. Someone from the Church leadership team will be there to answer any questions on Church membership/baptism and our doctrine statement.
