Truly biblical friendship is embodied in the Trinity, empowered by Jesus Christ, and intended as a spiritual discipline among God’s people for the purpose of glorifying him. This is the heart of the matter— not hobbies and horticulture, sports and scrapbooking, but Jesus Christ. (Jonathan Holmes, The Company We Keep: In Search of Biblical Friendship, pp. 41-42)

Feliz Friday! This one is biblical counseling heavy, so let’s get pumped!
- In a new series on conflict resolution and church restoration, Judy Dabler explains her counseling experience of the discipline of the Lord, Robert Cheong casts a vision that rewires our understanding of church discipline, and Ernie Baker addresses the intersection between leadership style, the heart, and conflict.
- Here’s some advice for the youth: serve the church (you thought I was going to write, ‘respect your elders,’ huh? Well, that’s in there, too).
- Has ‘gospel-centered’ become another throwaway term that Christians use without thinking about its meaning? Dane Ortlund has some good thoughts about this term, and even applies it to dating. Interested now?
- How does biblical theology address the current sexuality crisis facing the church? Al Mohler weighs in.
- John MacArthur continues his series on psychology and biblical counseling, continuing his previous article on the insufficiency of psychology to deal with heart problems, then moves to the sufficiency of Scripture (parts one and two, then gets into role of the Holy Spirit and counseling.
- Complementary to what was just linked, Heath Lambert answers a typical objection expressed in the question, “Who is saying medicine is unimportant?”. He then gives some ideas as to why people think biblical counselors do consider medicine unimportant.
- R.C. Sproul gives some gems of wisdom in answering the question, “What does repentance look like?”
- As schools are starting up, what tips would you give college students in performing well in their studies, especially in practical ways that will glorify God? David Murray has been attempting to do that with student tips that I’m personally enjoying and have implemented already. His newest tip is on memorizing, which includes links to the previous tips and recommended books. Students, don’t miss out on this series!
That’ll do it for this week! Please pray that the Czech Missions Report Night this coming Saturday will be honoring to our Lord in showing how He’s working over there, and that on Sunday the preaching of the Word will enter our hearts to motivate us to change, all to His glory!
