Alright folks, we’re back with a collection of links for you, and all I can say to sum this up is that it is a whole lot of good stuff. So here we go!
- Since so many of asked, here is yet another update on how Matt Chandler is doing. Surprisingly, this story has gained enough momentum that even the mainstream media is starting to pick it up as well. Pray that he continues to suffer well.
- Ok, I’ll admit that I have a bit of vested interest in this one, but I really enjoyed this article on how to read more. Some of the tips are ones that I have practiced personally (such as just carry a book with you everywhere so that you never waste time), and I wanted to pass it along.
- I don’t even read this blog regularly, and I found this post by Frank Turk over at Evangel to be enormously helpful. He talks about how even as committed Christians we struggle with treating Jesus as “real,” and it’s high time we admitted it to ourselves.
- CS Lewis awakens strong feelings in Christians these days. Some want to label him as nearly apostate, and some want to make him the fourth member of the Trinity. In something that might take you a little longer to work through than most of the articles here, I would commend this sermon from John Piper to you in which he talks at length about CS Lewis, and how studying him has been an enormous blessing to him.
- Over at the Koinoia blog, Bill Mounce muses on the responsibility and place of the church to comfort and care for those associated with some of it’s public failings. It made me think, and I hope it would challenge you as well.
- And in probably the most surprising thing I’ve read all week, Sally Jenkins (a pro-choice columnist for the Washington Post), comes out guns blazing in defense of Tim Tebow’s pro-life Superbowl advertisement. And when I say “guns blazing,” I really mean guns blazing.
- Never let it be said that I don’t post anything that isn’t in perfect conformity to my life and beliefs. Over at his blog, Russell Moore talks about why he’s cutting caffeine out of his life. I commend it to you, and I will see you in church Sunday morning as caffeinated as ever.
- One of the new writers over at the Aristophrenium has an article on how media reactions to sexual abstinence are becoming increasingly unpopular and critical around the world.
- In light of the Single’s Ministry studying the Holy Spirit, I particularly enjoyed this article by Kevin DeYoung. He wants to remind us (since some have forgotten), that the Holy Spirit and the Scriptures are on the same team.
Well, I was hoping to slip in a little something from TeamPyro as well, but we’ve already looked at ten articles today, so I’ll just keep that in my pocket for a rainy day. Enjoy your Friday, and I’ll see most of you on Sunday morning!
(Unless of course you’re a reader of the blog and not a regular attender of LBC. If that’s the case, and you’re in the San Diego area, then we would welcome you to join us this Sunday morning).
