{"id":13218,"date":"2017-03-02T01:00:36","date_gmt":"2017-03-02T09:00:36","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/lighthousebc.com\/beacon\/?p=13218"},"modified":"2017-02-26T15:43:35","modified_gmt":"2017-02-26T23:43:35","slug":"romans-7-and-the-doctrine-of-sanctification","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/lighthousebc.com\/beacon\/2017\/03\/02\/romans-7-and-the-doctrine-of-sanctification\/","title":{"rendered":"Romans 7 and the Doctrine of Sanctification"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em>by Josh Liu<\/em><\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Editor&#8217;s Note: Josh has once again graciously re-worked a seminary paper (or as I like to call it: &#8220;Pastor Mark&#8217;ed an article&#8221;), <a href=\"http:\/\/lighthousebc.com\/beacon\/files\/2017\/02\/Romans-7.pdf\">this time on the topic of Romans 7.<\/a> For those who don&#8217;t know, this is a somewhat controversial chapter since opinions vary on exactly what Paul intended his readers to understand, given some rather interesting syntactical maneuvers.<\/p>\n<p>On the offhand chance that anyone reading this paper also reads the blog over at the Gospel Coalition, let me just say that Josh absolutely describes Thomas Schreiner&#8217;s position qua BECNT accurately, but Dr. Schreiner does seem to have modified his view somewhat since that was published, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thegospelcoalition.org\/article\/romans-7-does-not-describe-your-christian-experience\">as seen in his contribution to that blog series.<\/a>\u00a0Even theologians change their minds from time to time.
