{"id":2319,"date":"2010-10-29T01:00:09","date_gmt":"2010-10-29T09:00:09","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.lighthousebc.com\/beacon\/?p=2319"},"modified":"2010-10-29T10:15:32","modified_gmt":"2010-10-29T18:15:32","slug":"weekly-links-10292010","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/lighthousebc.com\/beacon\/2010\/10\/29\/weekly-links-10292010\/","title":{"rendered":"Weekly Links (10\/29\/2010)"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<p><em>by Stephen Rodgers<\/em><\/p>\n<p>It was kind of a bad week for rounding up articles, which turned out to be a blessing in disguise because I found ONE article that I wanted to share with you and discuss a little bit. \u00a0Over at the Practical Shepherding blog, Brian Croft explained the concept of a\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/briancroft.wordpress.com\/2010\/10\/20\/what-is-a-membership-prayer-guide\/\">membership prayer guide<\/a>. \u00a0I&#8217;d encourage you to go check out the article and then swing back here for the discussion.<\/p>\n<p>Alright, you&#8217;re back. \u00a0Now, slow week notwithstanding, I think this is probably a more important topic than anything else I would have dug up anyhow. \u00a0You see, with the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.lighthousebc.com\/beacon\/?p=2239\">new website<\/a> that Kyle and Crew have implemented, we can actually do this. \u00a0We have a members section, and a member&#8217;s roster. \u00a0Now I&#8217;ll be honest, it&#8217;s a bit of a hard habit to form, and my memory is so poor that instead of evenly dividing up the church members, I&#8217;ve found it easier to just equate letters of the alphabet with days of the month (1=A, 2=B, 3=C, etc.). \u00a0But even though that might not be the most balanced way to do it, it&#8217;s\u00a0<em>something<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>Maybe you&#8217;re already a prayer warrior of the first order and you&#8217;re doing this already. \u00a0God bless you. \u00a0But if you&#8217;re like me, and you needed a little nudge and a little help to get this going&#8230;well, here&#8217;s your chance. \u00a0Now, it might be a good idea to review a few\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.lighthousebc.com\/beacon\/?p=684\">things<\/a> <a href=\"http:\/\/www.lighthousebc.com\/beacon\/?p=741\">about<\/a> <a href=\"http:\/\/www.lighthousebc.com\/beacon\/?p=1105\">prayer<\/a> before you rush off, but God knows that we probably don&#8217;t pray <em>enough<\/em>. \u00a0And as part of that, we probably don&#8217;t pray for each\u00a0<em>other<\/em> enough. \u00a0Scripture speaks of prayer in the context of the &#8220;one another&#8221; commands, which means that it is supposed to be happening in the context of the local church. \u00a0Once upon a time this wouldn&#8217;t have mattered much to me, but these days, having fellow believers pray for me is a powerful argument for why membership is important. \u00a0(And yes, there are\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.lighthousebc.com\/beacon\/?p=2235\">others<\/a> as well).<\/p>\n<p>Anyhow, that&#8217;s all I had to say. \u00a0I realize that this may not have been what you expected when you clicked over today, but I hope that you&#8217;ll consider the merit of it. \u00a0And regardless of your <em>process<\/em>, your <em>procedure<\/em>, and\/or your <em>system<\/em>, I sincerely hope that you make time to <em>daily <\/em>pray for your brothers and sisters in the church.<\/p>\n<p>ps.
