{"id":2348,"date":"2010-11-08T01:00:16","date_gmt":"2010-11-08T09:00:16","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.lighthousebc.com\/beacon\/?p=2348"},"modified":"2016-09-17T00:30:35","modified_gmt":"2016-09-17T07:30:35","slug":"weekly-links-pt-2-1182010","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/lighthousebc.com\/beacon\/2010\/11\/08\/weekly-links-pt-2-1182010\/","title":{"rendered":"Weekly Links pt. 2 (11\/8\/2010)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>by Stephen Rodgers<\/p>\n<p>Hey everyone. \u00a0As promised <a href=\"http:\/\/www.lighthousebc.com\/beacon\/?p=2344\">last week,<\/a> here is part 2 of the weekly links. \u00a0Hopefully they&#8217;ll be an encouragement to you this week until we can get together again on Friday!<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Here&#8217;s an easy one to get you started&#8230;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.albertmohler.com\/2010\/10\/21\/for-you-a-video-on-reading\/\">Al Mohler talks about reading.<\/a> (VIDEO) \u00a0It&#8217;s comforting to know that childhood-Mohler and childhood-me have something in common; unfortunately it&#8217;s the fact that we both prioritized reading over obeying our parents.<\/li>\n<li>I don&#8217;t agree with everything that Peter Kreeft writes, but this quote about the Christian&#8217;s view of Heaven is <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.thegospelcoalition.org\/rayortlund\/2013\/11\/01\/something-to-cherish-when-we-suffer\/\">spot on.<\/a> (WEB) \u00a0And before you ask&#8230;no. \u00a0That is not a picture of Peter Kreeft.<\/li>\n<li>You didn&#8217;t think that I would let the week go by without giving you a dose of Paul Tripp did you? \u00a0It&#8217;s not really Halloween-themed, but the timing is appropriate. \u00a0So without further ado, here is his article on Christian living entitled <a href=\"http:\/\/www.desiringgod.org\/blog\/posts\/the-costume-kingdom\" class=\"broken_link\">The Costume Kingdom.<\/a> (WEB)<\/li>\n<li>And on a related theme, over at the CCEF blog, Ed Welch has a great article on the issue of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ccef.org\/living-publicly\">Living Publicly.<\/a> (WEB)<\/li>\n<li>So&#8230;Kevin DeYoung writes a book about the Heidelberg Catechism. \u00a0CJ Mahaney reads said book and appreciates it (I haven&#8217;t read it yet, but from having read four Pastor DeYoung&#8217;s other books, I imagine it&#8217;s <em>fantastic<\/em>). \u00a0So he challenges his friend Curtis Allen&#8230;aka Voice&#8230;to write a rap song about it. \u00a0So, may I present to you, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.sovereigngraceministries.org\/blogs\/cj-mahaney\/post\/2010\/10\/25\/The-First-Ever-Rap-Song-About-the-Heidelberg-Catechism.aspx\" class=\"broken_link\">the first ever rap song about the Heidelberg Catechism.<\/a> (AUDIO)<\/li>\n<li>I have long maintained that two of the best things that Dan Phillips (of TeamPyro fame) ever wrote were a couple articles on prayer (What? \u00a0You haven&#8217;t read them yet? <a href=\"http:\/\/teampyro.blogspot.com\/2006\/09\/what-prayer-is-and-isnt.html\">Go<\/a>&#8230;<a href=\"http:\/\/teampyro.blogspot.com\/2008\/07\/prayer-and-might-not-have-beens.html\">go!<\/a>) \u00a0Well, now I have to add a third article to the list since he&#8217;s <a href=\"http:\/\/teampyro.blogspot.com\/2010\/10\/trusting-what-it-is-and-isnt.html\">Biblically dissected the idea of &#8220;trust.&#8221;<\/a> (WEB)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Alright, that&#8217;s all I have for you. \u00a0My quiver of articles is once again empty, and Google Reader has brought me hundreds more. \u00a0I&#8217;ll be back with a few of them on Friday. \u00a0Between now and then&#8230;well, you did read that article by Ed Welch right?<\/p>\n<p><em>Pro Rege<\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>by Stephen Rodgers Hey everyone. \u00a0As promised last week, here is part 2 of the weekly links. \u00a0Hopefully they&#8217;ll be an encouragement to you this week until we can get together again on Friday!
