Wright, \u201cEditorial: \u2018All Our Gods Have Failed,\u2019\u00a0<em>Themelios\u00a0<\/em>18, no. 3 (1993)).\u00a0HT:\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/andynaselli.com\/idols\">Andy Naselli<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><em>by Stephen Rodgers<\/em><\/p>\n<p>I suppose this would be a good time to mention that you can find past issues of <em>Themelios <\/em><a href=\"http:\/\/themelios.thegospelcoalition.org\/archive\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Actually, this is a great week for journals in general:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The 9Marks eJournal has a new issue out, entitled <a href=\"http:\/\/www.9marks.org\/journal\/pastor-and-his-staff-part-1\">The Pastor and his Staff<\/a>. \u00a0I&#8217;ve also updated our 9Marks eJournal <a href=\"http:\/\/www.lighthousebc.com\/beacon\/?p=2893\">topical index<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>The July edition of Tabletalk is out, and it focuses on <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ligonier.org\/learn\/articles\/?tt=92\">Fraternity: The Bonds of Brotherhood<\/a>. \u00a0Again, you can peruse the archive <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ligonier.org\/tabletalk\/past-issues\/\">here<\/a>. I really should create a topical index for that as well, one of these days.<\/li>\n<li>Also, I recently discovered the that The Council on Biblical Manhood and Womanhood (CBMW) has a Journal of Biblical Manhood and Womanhood (JBMW). And you can view the archive of those issues <a href=\"http:\/\/cbmw.org\/journal\/\">here<\/a>. \u00a0I&#8217;ve also added it to the list of journals on the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.lighthousebc.com\/beacon\/?p=2561\">Recommended Resources<\/a> page.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>And that brings us to the links this week; I tried to select a few from some sources we don&#8217;t see as often.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>From CREDENDAagenda we have a great article on <a href=\"http:\/\/www.credenda.org\/index.php\/Family\/second-thoughts-on-family-worship.html\">family worship<\/a>. \u00a0My favorite quote: &#8220;There is a reason kids loved to be around Jesus, and it wasn\u2019t because he was lecturing at length about the Torah or the Five Points of Calvinism.&#8221;<\/li>\n<li>Frontline Missions International has an article about the dangers of a missionary not raising up or supporting <a href=\"http:\/\/www.frontlinemissions.info\/?p=702\">local leadership<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>Ray Ortland reproduces <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.thegospelcoalition.org\/rayortlund\/2015\/05\/27\/my-dads-five-vows\/\">five vows<\/a> that his father made before God.<\/li>\n<li>Skye Jethani has some words of caution regarding the current trend of investing a church too heavily into a single celebrity pastor in his article <a href=\"http:\/\/www.outofur.com\/archives\/2011\/06\/blessed_redunda.html\">Blessed Redundancy<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>That&#8217;s it for this week. \u00a0See you Sunday!<\/p>\n<p><em>Pro Rege<\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The worst thing about idols, as the Hebrew scriptures so tirelessly point out, is that they are utterly useless when you need them most (Jer. 2:28).\u201d (Christopher J.
