It was an exciting\u00a0evening at the church last night with all the ministries up and\u00a0running. It was really great to see everyone there and super\u00a0encouraging to see all those helping to make it happen. I&#8217;m so\u00a0thankful for the work that our members put in and especially for the\u00a0heart behind it. There is a clear desire to honor God and love people\u00a0through the service that is rendered. As we head into another weekend,\u00a0please keep in mind all the opportunities there are to serve one\u00a0another and invest in each other&#8217;s lives.<\/p>\n<p>In His grace,<\/p>\n<p>Pastor Patrick<\/p>\n<p>Here are the announcements for this week:<\/p>\n<p><em>Editor&#8217;s Note: You can easily keep up with various events, affinity groups, and dates by using one or more of the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/lighthousebc.com\/\">available church calendars.<\/a>\u00a0Pushing the &#8220;+ Google Calendar&#8221; will even let you sync them automatically with your own calendar.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>GENERAL ANNOUNCEMENTS<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Sunday Morning Prayer.<\/strong> Don&#8217;t forget that there is a group that\u00a0meets for prayer every Sunday morning at 8:00am in Room 107. Also, the\u00a0santuary is open at 8:45am and the prayer requests are projected on\u00a0the wall so that you can be in prayer for one another and for the\u00a0church.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Sunday School.<\/strong> The Adult Sunday School classes are all going to be\u00a0meeting this weekend during the Sunday School hour. The three classes\u00a0being offered are The Roles of Men and Women, <a href=\"http:\/\/lighthousebc.com\/welcome\/fof\/\">Fundamentals of the\u00a0Faith,<\/a> and Grace Life Family Ministry. More information can be found\u00a0in the <a href=\"http:\/\/lighthousebc.com\/bulletin\/\">Sunday bulletin.<\/a><\/li>\n<li><strong>The Beacon.<\/strong> Stephen Rodgers has been working hard to present a\u00a0series on the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.lighthousebc.com\/beacon\/?cat=109\">Books of the Bible (BOB)<\/a> on the beacon newsletter.\u00a0Please check it out because it is well done and will get you more\u00a0familiar with God&#8217;s Word.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Flocks.<\/strong> Don&#8217;t forget to sign up for the <a href=\"http:\/\/lighthousebc.com\/welcome\/flocks\/\">regional flocks,<\/a> which meet\u00a0monthly in various homes around the community. Visit the table in the\u00a0foyer between services for more information.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Membership Class.<\/strong> We will be offering our next <a href=\"http:\/\/lighthousebc.com\/members\/\">membership class<\/a> on\u00a0November 12 (9:00am-12:00pm) and November 13 (1:00-4:00pm) at the\u00a0church. You must attend both classes. Please let Pastor Patrick know\u00a0if you are interested in membership to receive an application.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Members Meeting.<\/strong> There is a members meeting on Sunday, October 16,\u00a0from 4:45-8:30pm. All members of LBC are highly encouraged to attend.\u00a0As always, dinner will be provided.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>UPCOMING EVENTS<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Men&#8217;s Breakfast.<\/strong> This Saturday at 8:00am, we will be having a men&#8217;s\u00a0breakfast at the church. Come out for some great fellowship and\u00a0training. Bring a breakfast item to share! Juice will be provided.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Women&#8217;s Ministry Seminar.<\/strong> The women&#8217;s seminar, entitled &#8220;Pursuing\u00a0Holiness in a Fallen World,&#8221; will be on Saturday, October 15, from\u00a09:00am-12:30pm, at the church. There is no cost to attend and\u00a0breakfast will be provided. All ladies high school age and up are\u00a0invited to attend. Please sign up with Christine Cho\u00a0(christinescho@gmail.com).<\/li>\n<li><strong>Fall Festival.<\/strong> Our annual Fall Festival will be on October 31 from\u00a05:00-8:00pm. Come dressed up in a costume and enjoy great food and\u00a0fun! The cost is only $5\/person (children 0-12 are free!). Please\u00a0refrain from wearing any costumes that are evil, scary, or villainous.<\/li>\n<li><strong>All-Church Retreat.<\/strong> The All-Church Retreat with Dr. Ernie Baker is\u00a0quickly approaching. Dr. Baker is a professor of The Master&#8217;s College\u00a0in the biblical counseling department, and he will be presenting a\u00a0series on biblical conciliation. The cost of the retreat is only $150\u00a0($75\/child, ages 3-12; $450\/max per family). You can sign up with Ryan\u00a0Short or Josh Liu with a $50 non-refundable deposit.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div><strong>AFFINITY GROUPS<\/strong><\/div>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Single Life Bonfire.<\/strong> The singles ministry will be having a bonfire\u00a0to kick off the year this Saturday, October 8, from 4:00-9:30pm at\u00a0Mission Bay (across the street from Belmont Park). Bring $5 for food.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Parenting Class.<\/strong> Don&#8217;t forget about the Parenting Class meeting on\u00a0Wednesday evenings from 6:30-8:00pm in Room 107. Nursery care is\u00a0provided and LKC also meets during the same time.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Grace Life Park Day.<\/strong> Grace Life will be having an informal day at\u00a0Torrey Hills Neighborhood Park on Saturday, October 22, from\u00a011:30am-2:00pm. Bring a lunch for your family and come enjoy some\u00a0fellowship together while the kids play!<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>CHILDREN&#8217;S MINISTRIES<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Mommy and Me.<\/strong> If you are a mom who is a regular attendee or member\u00a0at LBC and are interested in participating in a structured\u00a0play\/learning time for your 0-4 year old child(ren), please contact\u00a0Jane Kim (janeminkim@gmail.com). Mommy and Me meets on Friday\u00a0mornings, from 9:45am-12:30pm, at the church.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Lighthouse Kids&#8217; Club.<\/strong> LKC meets on Wednesdays from 6:30-8:00pm at\u00a0the church. Join us as we walk through this year&#8217;s theme:\u00a0&#8220;Peacemakers.&#8221; Registration is open to children in preschool to fifth\u00a0grade. The cost is just $30 for the first child, and $20 for each\u00a0subsequent child of the same household! For more information, or to\u00a0receive an application form, please contact Josh Liu\u00a0(liu.joshuac@gmail.com).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>MINISTRY OPPORTUNITIES<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Convalescent Home Ministry.<\/strong> There is a group that visits a\u00a0convalescent home in the Hillcrest area on Tuesdays to minister to the\u00a0elderly. Please contact Teddy Yu for more details or if you would like\u00a0to get involved (yu.teddy@gmail.com).<\/li>\n<li><strong>Homeless Ministry.<\/strong> There is a great ministry opportunity available\u00a0to you every other Sunday! Twice a month, a group goes out to Pacific\u00a0Beach Presbyterian Church to help feed the homeless and needy. The\u00a0ministry generally runs from 3:00-6:00pm; the first half is spent\u00a0preparing the food and the second half is spent serving food and\u00a0cleaning the kitchen.
