Trevor:
My wife and I moved to San Diego last year. We didn’t have to look
anywhere else after our first Sunday at LBC. Patrick’s Biblical teaching and the member’s genuine love towards one another quickly convinced us that Lighthouse was a church for us. This is going to be our first year at Singles and I’m looking forward getting to know single men and growing in Christ together.
- Hobbies: reading, nature like activities (hiking, hunting), technology.
- Favorite Christian book: Trusting God by Jerry Bridges.
- Favorite Bible Verse: book of Ecclesiastes, “All is vanity and Striving after wind”.
Marina:
Before moving to San Diego last year I found the LBC website and checked it out. Reading about different ministries, seeing pictures and learning about Lighthouse mission and decision, I wanted to become a part of that church. Our first Sunday here was everything we hoped for; there was no reason to look for other churches. The fact that Patrick and some other guys came over and helped us on our moving day, showed me that people at LBC had a heart for service. I’m looking forward to developing new relationships with single ladies at church. I hope we can serve each other and grow together for the glory of God.
- Hobbies: music, photography, anything crafty. I also love reading and experiencing new things (like new foods!)
- Favorite Christian book: Holiness by J.C. Ryle
- Favorite Bible verse: one of many, PS 119:11.

I moved to San Diego in 2002 to study engineering. I originally came to LBC in 2005, looking to find a church that would hold me accountable in my walk and provide the examples of solid godly men for me to follow. I have enjoyed the solid teaching and fellowship with other people who love Jesus at LBC since then. I have been working as an oceanographic engineer at Scripps Institution of Oceanography since graduating in 2006. I cherish the time I get to spend with my small group each week as we encourage one another and learn from each person’s walk with God.
Thomas:
In December 2010, after completing graduate school, I received my permanent change of duty station (PCS) orders to San Diego from the U.S. Navy. Before I moved to San Diego in January 2011, God had graciously blessed me with solid, Bible-teaching churches and older men/elders to shepherd me. Because of God’s guidance and their shepherding, I was able to find LBC and, since then, it has been a tremendous blessing to be part of the LBC family. Shortly after becoming a member, I decided to serve in the Singles Life Administrative Staff. My heart is to serve my single brothers and sisters in the faith and to grow together with them in His knowledge and grace.
