I came to LBC because I heard that it had a Friday night single group and I
wanted to improve my Bible knowledge. After bring brought to the single
study group I actually like the study and how people hold me accountable for
my actions. So I went to a few Sunday service and enjoy the bible teaching.
I could see myself growing in the knowledge of the word and understand what I was truly believing in I decided to stay and grow in the knowledge of the word.

My favorite thing about Singles ministry is playing Ping Pong :). No, actually really I enjoy the fellowship and the teaching at singles ministry and how other singles can relate to your troubles and would help point you to the bible passages to help me in these struggles.

I currently work as a software engineer. As for my favorite Bible passage, it’s hard to choose! Right now I’m really loving Paul’s sermon on Mars Hill and reflecting on just how great our sovereign Lord and creator is.

Shortly after I graduated from the University of Michigan in 2005, I moved to San Diego to start working. As I was looking for churches, I found Lighthouse Bible Church to be a church who valued a high view of God’s Word. It was also a place where I could immediately get plugged in and start serving alongside other like-minded Christians. I joined Single Life admin staff since it gave me the unique opportunity to plan activities that would help foster God-glorifying fellowship and encouragement within the Single Life community.

After serving 4 years overseas with the military, I was looking for a church to call my own. Having learned my lesson from previous church experiences, I wanted to find a church that was committed to teaching the bible and had a congregation that was composed of believers. I found LBC’s website while searching for churches in San Diego. Listening to Pastor John’s and Patrick’s sermons online motivated me to meet the church in person. When I first visited LBC I didn’t feel welcome. It wasn’t because people didn’t welcome me. Rather it was because I wasn’t comfortable with talking about my relationship with Christ. LBC was set apart from previous churches because the members weren’t really interested in my accomplishments in the world; they were more interested in asking me about my walk with Christ. After a period of evaluation I decided to stay because the church taught God’s word and their members lived out the word by keeping each other accountable.

I enjoyed the mid week teaching and the fellowship of Singles ministry. It was good to be taught from the bible two times a week and be able to break bread with church members. I also liked the investment that people made in each other’s life through small group, singles, and informal meetings. Since I was new to San Diego, I also enjoyed finding good places to eat and doing fun things in San Diego.

  • Hobbies: I have too many to be specific. I like Martial arts, Outdoor activities, Water Sports, and Dinning.
  • Favorite Christian book: Is this a trick question? Besides the Bible, I like The Gospel According to Jesus: What is authentic Faith? by John MacArthur.
  • Favorite Bible verse: Colossians 3:23 “Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men.”

Hello my name is Randy.  I was born and raised in Houston, Tx, But ended up here in San Diego via the Navy. I found out about LBC at the end of 2004, through my old pastor in Houston. In the beginning for about a year and a half, I was in and out of the church, but after a while the Holy Spirit worked in my heart to commit  to this Gospel centered church.  Ever since have been going and growing. Here, at Lighthouse, is also where I met my loving wife Elaine and now we have a wonderful 1 year old baby girl, that continues to curiously roam the church. Her name is Charlotte.  We call her Charlee – pronounced like Sharlee. Truly God has blessed me with a wonderful family and a loving church family as well … I dont deserve anything, but Praise God for His loving kindness who Gives life abundantly. I will always and forever will I be a Bondservant of Christ.

After graduating nursing school I was contemplating about moving back to san diego and wanted to find a church where I could be plugged into. It happened so that my friend knew of a church named lighthouse and knew the location and told me about it. I checked out the church and liked that the church had great teaching, friendly people, and accountability. I have been here ever since! Undeservingly that is where I met my wonderful husband Randy. I joined single staff in hopes to encourage others to continue keeping their eyes on Christ.

I first started coming to Lighthouse at the end of 2008, after graduating from UCSD. Over the past few years, I have really grown to love the Singles Ministry and everyone in it! It is such a unique stage of life, where people are striving to shine the light wherever they are, whether in school or at work. I joined Admin Staff so that I could serve and encourage my brothers and sisters to continue running the race for Christ together. Hobbies: Baking, cooking, eating….. I also enjoy spending time outdoors and reading, even though I don’t do it much. Favorite book: A Quest for More by Paul David Tripp Favorite Bible Verse: Romans 8:28

In the summer of 1998 I was in the process of looking for a new church. Some friends of mine told me about a new church that was starting up later that year called Lighthouse Bible Church. I started attending the bible studies just to check it out and I really enjoyed the focus of the church. So I committed to making LBC my home church and became one of the charter members.

I started consistently coming out to LBC in 2007 and stayed because of the solid Biblical preaching and friendly people who desire to honor God.  I grew up in San Diego, but moved to L.A. to attend UCLA (go bruins).  I came back to SD for pharmacy school at UCSD; I am now a pharmacist.  I joined staff because I enjoy the fellowship the Single’s Ministry provides (though I think the name makes it sound more like a dating service than a church group) and a have a knack for organization.
