Kevin & Mabel Tse

Kevin:  Hi, I’ve been very happily married to Mabel for a little over 3 years. My experience at Lighthouse Bible Church has taught me to love God, His Word and His people, and through the ministry at LBC I’ve grown tremendously in my faith. I joined SingleLife staff several years ago while still single myself. I look forward to working with the Single adults’ ministry again this year while coming alongside people in prayerful support and walking through life together as a fellow believer in Christ.

Andy Shin

Hey everyone! My name is Andy Shin and I serve as one of the deacons here at Lighthouse Bible Church. I graduated from UCSD with a degree in Management Science and now work in finance. A good friend invited me out to LBC back in 2005 and I’ve been here ever since! Over the years, God has not only taught me how important the local church is for the Christian, but has provided a great one in LBC. It is truly a blessing and privilege to serve you.

Randy & Elaine Sarmiento

Randy: Shepherding Staff
Hello my name is Randy.  I was born and raised in Houston, Tx, But ended up here in San Diego via the Navy. I found out about LBC at the end of 2004, through my old pastor in Houston. In the beginning for about a year and a half, I was in and out of the church, but after a while the Holy Spirit worked in my heart to commit  to this Gospel centered church.  Ever since have been going and growing. Here, at Lighthouse, is also where I met my loving wife Elaine and now we have a wonderful 1 year old baby girl, that continues to curiously roam the church. Her name is Charlotte.  We call her Charlee – pronounced like Sharlee. Truly God has blessed me with a wonderful family and a loving church family as well … I dont deserve anything, but Praise God for His loving kindness who Gives life abundantly. I will always and forever will I be a Bondservant of Christ.

After graduating nursing school I was contemplating about moving back to san diego and wanted to find a church where I could be plugged into. It happened so that my friend knew of a church named lighthouse and knew the location and told me about it. I checked out the church and liked that the church had great teaching, friendly people, and accountability. I have been here ever since! Undeservingly that is where I met my wonderful husband Randy. I joined single staff in hopes to encourage others to continue keeping their eyes on Christ.

I came to LBC for the first time back in 2006, I became and member shortly after and got involved in different ministries.  I moved back to my hometown of Sacramento in the winter of 2008 and served back at my home church.  This past May of 2011 I moved back to San Diego because God opened up the door for a new job.  I quickly jumped on the opportunity to be back in San Diego and became a member once again and am now serving for the glory of God.
I am serving on Single Life staff because I want to be involved in the growth of the young adults at LBC.  I served as a high school youth sponsor while I was back home and was humbled by God’s work in such young souls.  I hope at LBC I would be a faithful servant to encourage and grow alongside my brothers and sisters in Christ.

Trevor & Marina Hayes

Trevor:

My wife and I moved to San Diego last year. We didn’t have to look
anywhere else after our first Sunday at LBC. Patrick’s Biblical teaching and the member’s genuine love towards one another quickly convinced us that Lighthouse was a church for us. This is going to be our first year at Singles and I’m looking forward getting to know single men and growing in Christ together.

  • Hobbies: reading, nature like activities (hiking, hunting), technology.
  • Favorite Christian book: Trusting God by Jerry Bridges.
  • Favorite Bible Verse: book of Ecclesiastes, “All is vanity and Striving after wind”.

Marina:

Before moving to San Diego last year I found the LBC website and checked it out. Reading about different ministries, seeing pictures and learning about Lighthouse mission and decision, I wanted to become a part of that church. Our first Sunday here was everything we hoped for; there was no reason to look for other churches. The fact that Patrick and some other guys came over and helped us on our moving day, showed me that people at LBC had a heart for service. I’m looking forward to developing new relationships with single ladies at church. I hope we can serve each other and grow together for the glory of God.

  • Hobbies: music, photography, anything crafty. I also love reading and experiencing new things (like new foods!)

I came to San Diego in 2005 to get my Master’s at UCSD.  I came to LBC because I knew that a friend came here for church.  Originally, I stayed out of habit, but eventually, I stayed because of the loving people and hearing teaching like I have never experienced anywhere else.

My time in Single Ministry was a great time of fellowship with other singles through activities or simply serving them through fixing their cars or other items.  I look forward to continuing to minister to the singles through more than just physical needs.

I started attending regularly winter quarter because of the great teaching, accountability, and the love I saw people had for one another. I became a member soon after.  In 2009, I moved back home to San Jose for work but God brought me back in 2011 when Thomas and I got married and I’ve been at Lighthouse since.
