{"id":172,"date":"2011-02-06T15:00:32","date_gmt":"2011-02-06T15:00:32","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.lbcsinglelife.com\/?p=172"},"modified":"2013-01-12T04:47:01","modified_gmt":"2013-01-12T04:47:01","slug":"thomas-karen-fong","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/lighthousebc.com\/saltandlight\/2011\/02\/06\/thomas-karen-fong\/","title":{"rendered":"Thomas &amp; Karen Fong"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft\" title=\"TKFong\" src=\"http:\/\/lbcsd.smugmug.com\/photos\/i-3ft4pnk\/0\/S\/i-3ft4pnk-S.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"400\" height=\"286\" \/><strong>Thomas:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><\/strong> I came to San Diego in 2005 to get my Master&#8217;s at UCSD. \u00a0I came to LBC\u00a0because I knew that a friend came here for church. \u00a0Originally, I stayed out\u00a0of habit, but eventually, I stayed because of the loving people and hearing\u00a0teaching like I have never experienced anywhere else.<\/p>\n<p>My time in Single Ministry was a great time of fellowship with other singles through activities\u00a0or simply serving them through fixing their cars or other items. \u00a0I look\u00a0forward to continuing to minister to the singles through more than just\u00a0physical needs.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Hobbies: Spending time with Karen and my daughter, Penelope,<\/li>\n<li>Fixing cars, fixing stuff up around the house.<\/li>\n<li>Favorite Christian Book: A Gospel Primer &#8211; Milton Vincent<\/li>\n<li>Favorite Bible verse: \u00a0Romans 8:18<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Karen:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>I first heard about Lighthouse when I transferred to UCSD for school in 2005.\u00a0 One of my roommates was attending Lighthouse and invited me to join her my first Sunday in San Diego. I started attending regularly winter quarter because of the great teaching, accountability, and the love I saw people had for one another. I became a member soon after.\u00a0 In 2009, I moved back home to San Jose for work but God brought me back in 2011 when Thomas and I got married and I&#8217;ve been at Lighthouse since.<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;m joining Single Staff because I want to be involved with the young adults at LBC in hopes to encourage and run this race for Christ together.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Hobbies:\u00a0Spending time with people, especially with Thomas and our daughter Penelope, cake decorating, baking, and cooking<\/li>\n<li>Favorite Christian Book:\u00a0Humility by C.J. Mahaney, The Excellent Wife by Martha Peace, Spiritual Depression by D.
